Three Tips for Whiter Teeth

A whiter smile makes you happier, more confident and more willing to show your smile off to the world. Over time, however, teeth can look dull or even yellow. Use the following tips to help you keep a whiter smile.
Eat Crisp Foods
Firm, crisp foods, sometimes known as detergent foods, help your smile stay white by rubbing away bacteria and light staining as you chew. Apples are the best food for this purpose, but raw carrots and popcorn are other popular choices. Detergent foods are especially helpful if you eat them as the last part of your meal when you can't brush your teeth directly after eating.
Avoid Dark Food and Drinks
Dark soda, coffee, juice and wine can all cause permanent staining to your teeth, especially if you drink them often. When drinking dark drinks, use a straw to help prevent staining. It is also important to avoid dark berries unless you can brush right after eating them.
Add Baking Soda and Apple Cider Vinegar to Your Regimen
Baking soda and apple cider vinegar have properties that work to remove stains from your teeth. Gargle apple cider vinegar in the morning before brushing your teeth to help remove stains and kill bacteria. Use baking soda instead of regular toothpaste once per week to further whiten teeth.
Home remedies are a good start to a whiter smile, but it is also important to have regular cleaning appointments at your dentist's office. To learn more about teeth whitening , contact New England Dental Health Center in Orange at 203-799-3311.
